With Double Attack Blackjack® you get the chance to beat the dealer with both barrels!

Double Attack Blackjack has five exciting new features:

Double your bet after seeing a weak Dealer's card
Double Down any hand after any number of cards
Surrender a weak hand to recoup half your bet
Surrender on any number of cards
Win an Insurance Bet and enjoy a 3 to 1 pay

In Double Attack Blackjack, you try to beat the Dealer by accumulating a card value total close to, but not over, 21 points.

Start by placing a bet. After placing your bet, click the DEAL button to start play.

You will see the Dealer face-up card first and have a chance to Double Attack.

After making your Double Attack decision, you receive two cards, both face up, and commence playing Blackjack.

How to play

Playing a Hand of Blackjack

All face cards are worth 10, Aces are worth either 1 or 11, and all other cards are worth their face value. A Blackjack occurs when the card value total of an original hand's first two cards sums to 21 by getting an Ace and a 10-value card.

If the Dealer's face-up card is an Ace, you may be offered the opportunity to place an Insurance Bet against a Dealer's Blackjack. (Whether or not this offer is made is based upon your options settings). If you accept the Insurance Bet offer, this automatically places another bet equal to half of your initial bet. If the Dealer has Blackjack, your Insurance Bet is paid 3 to 1. (In a standard Blackjack game, the Insurance Bet only pays 2 to 1). If the Dealer does not have Blackjack, your Insurance Bet is forfeited and play proceeds.

If the Dealer's face-up card is a 10-value card, then the Dealer's face down card is checked, but no Insurance Bet is ever offered. Early checking of Dealer Blackjack is a big advantage for the player since it eliminates risking additional Double Down bets and Split bets to be lost to a late-revealed Dealer Blackjack.

If the Dealer's hand is a Blackjack, then your initial bet is forfeited, any Double Attack bet is returned, and the game ends. The exception is when you also have a Blackjack, which is a push, and your initial bet and any Double Attack bet are returned.

If the Dealer's hand is not a Blackjack, then you get to play out your hand. If you are dealt a Blackjack on your first two cards (and the Dealer does not also have a Blackjack), then your hand is an automatic winner and paid 1 to 1. If neither the Dealer nor you have a Blackjack, you are given the opportunity to try to improve the outcome of your hand. Depending on the cards you hold, you may choose one of the following actions:

HIT - You request an additional card. You can continue to request additional cards until you decide to stand or until your card value total is 21 (automatic stop) or until you bust by receiving a card that causes your card value total to exceed 21. If you bust a hand, that hand loses and all corresponding bets are forfeited.

STAND - You request no further cards and play this hand against the Dealer's hand.

SPLIT - If the first two cards in a hand are of the same value, you may click SPLIT to split your cards into two separate hands, which also places an additional bet equal to your bet (initial bet + any Double Attack bet). When Aces are split, only one further card may be dealt to each Ace. A split hand leading to a two-card value total of 21 is not a Blackjack.

DOUBLE DOWN - On any two or more cards in a hand, you may click DOUBLE DOWN to automatically double your original bet and receive exactly one additional card. You may also Double Down on two or more cards of any split hand.

SURRENDER - You may choose to surrender a given hand and recoup half of the corresponding bets. To do so, click the SURRENDER button which will end that particular hand and give you back half of that hand's bets. You may surrender after any number of cards. You may surrender after receiving your one additional card on a Double Down. You may surrender after receiving your one additional card on a split Ace. This is a "late surrender" which means that it is only available after the Dealer has verified there is no Dealer Blackjack.

The card value total is displayed on circular plaques adjacent to each hand. As cards are dealt to a hand, the plaque displays an updated card value total. When your hand holds an Ace, the plaque flashes the card value total and the word "Soft." The value displayed is based on counting the Ace as an 11 rather than a 1 (for example, a 5 and an Ace are shown as a "Soft 16").

When comparing your hand versus the Dealer's hand, Aces are evaluated such that they represent the highest possible card value total not exceeding 21.

After you have played out your hand without exceeding 21, the Dealer's hand will be played out.

If the Dealer's card value total is 16 or lower, additional cards are dealt until the card value total is 17 or higher. If the Dealer's card value total exceeds 21, then the Dealer busts and any of your standing hands win. Otherwise, the Dealer's card value total is compared against each of your hands. In the case of a tie, this is a push and your bets for that hand are returned.

Double Attack

In every hand, you have the chance to double your initial bet after seeing the Dealer's face-up card. This is called a "Double Attack" and lets you get more money into play against a weak Dealer card.

To Double Attack, click the DOUBLE ATTACK button. To forgo your Double Attack option, click the NO DOUBLE ATTACK button.

Once you decide whether or not to Double Attack, the remaining initial cards are dealt and your blackjack hand proceeds normally.

If you Double Attack and then later split your hand, the cost of your split is based on your total bet (initial bet + Double Attack bet).

Similarly, if you Double Attack and then later Double Down, the cost of your Double Down is based on your total bet (initial bet + Double Attack bet). However, there is an option to allow you to Double Down only on your main bet.

In all cases, your winnings are always based on your total bet (initial bet + any Double Attack bet).
How to Bet

To play Double Attack Blackjack, select a chip value by clicking a chip at the bottom of the playing field. The chip you select brightens and displays in a raised position. To place a bet, click the bet circle in the center of table. Each time you click, you place one chip on the table.

Your bet must be at least as large as the minimum bet and cannot exceed the maximum bet.

After you place your bet, click the DEAL button.

If you wish to repeat your last bet and play immediately after completing a game, click the REBET AND DEAL button. If you have sufficient credits, this button restores your previous bets and initiates play all in one click.

If you wish to repeat your last bet without initiating a new game, click the REBET button. This restores your previous bets. If you wish, you can adjust any bet. You still need to click the DEAL button to initiate play.

The DOUBLE BET button causes your currently placed bet to be doubled every time you click it. If doubling your current bet would cause a bet to exceed the bet limit, then the DOUBLE BET button is not available.

If you click the DOUBLE BET button before placing a bet, this is equivalent to first clicking the REBET button and then the DOUBLE BET button. You will still need to click the DEAL button to initiate play.

To remove a bet from the table, either press the SHIFT key and click your chips on the felt, or click the CLEAR button.

Options

Clicking the OPTIONS button reveals a menu of controls that enable you to customize various aspects of the game to suit your preferences:

SPEED

Allows you to control the speed of game play. In NORMAL mode (default) all game animations are played. In TURBO mode the pace of play is quickened by eliminating certain animations. This does not affect the method of play or the rules of the game.

AUDIO

Allows you to toggle and modify settings for various audio elements in the game. The Dealer's voice-over may be turned on (default) or off by checking or unchecking the VOICE setting box. The game's sound effects may be turned on (default) or off by checking or unchecking the SOUND EFFECTS setting box. Additionally, you may choose between TRADITIONAL or MODERN (default) style sound effects.

GRAPHICS QUALITY

Allows you to set the quality of the graphics to get the best animation performance on your computer. In BEST mode, the graphics look the best, but performance may suffer. The HIGH (default) and MEDIUM settings lower the quality but increase the performance. In LOW mode, the graphics are degraded, but the smoothest animation performance is acheived even on slower computers.

POP-UP HELP

Allows you to turn ON (default) or OFF the game's text instructions, which are meant to help new players.

OFFER INSURANCE

Allows you to control when the Insurance Bet is offered to you. Selecting ALWAYS ON DEALER ACE (default) allows you the maximum number of opportunities to make the Insurance Bet and is how the game is played in most casinos. The ONLY ON PLAYER BLACKJACK setting only offers the Insurance Bet on your Blackjack hands, and the NEVER setting prevents the Insurance Bet from being offered to you.

DOUBLE DOWN

Controls the size of a Double Down bet after a Double Attack. By checking the box next to ONLY DOUBLE THE MAIN BET, a Double Down will double only your initial bet. Any Double Attack bet will not be doubled. By unchecking this box (default), a Double Down will double any Double Attack bet in addition to your initial bet. .

Rules
les - Player

Blackjack pays 1 to 1.
Double down is possible on any two or more cards after Dealer has checked for Dealer Blackjack. The exception is you cannot double down after splitting Aces.

When Aces are split, each Ace receives only one card.

Player may double down on two or more cards of a split hand.

Player may surrender a given hand on two or more cards, after Dealer has checked for Dealer Blackjack.

Player may surrender after a double down.

Player may surrender after receiving one additional card on a split Ace.

Blackjack is only possible on first two cards on each hand (and not on split cards).

Player may draw a maximum of eight cards for any hand. An eight-card Player hand whose value does not exceed 21 beats all Dealer outcomes.

An Insurance Bet opportunity is offered when the Dealer's face-up card is an Ace. The Insurance Bet amount will be exactly half of the Player's initial bet. (A Double Attack bet will not affect the potential size of the Insurance Bet.) Subsequent Dealer Blackjack will pay 3 to 1 on any Insurance Bet.

Rules - Dealer
Dealer must draw to 16.

Dealer must stand on all 17's. This includes soft values where an Ace can be counted as an 11 value.

Dealer Blackjack beats all Player outcomes causing loss of initial Player bet and the return of any Double Attack bet. The exception is when Player and Dealer both have Blackjack, in which case the initial bet plus any Double Attack bet are returned to the Player.

General Rules
8 decks of standard playing cards, shuffled for each hand of play. All ‘10' cards have been removed from the deck.
