Three card poker is a very popular poker-based game played in most casinos. It actually consists of two separate games, pairplus and ante-and-play. You can choose to play either or both of the games. 3 Card Poker is similar to the British game called Brag.

How to play

Table Stake Settings:

Min Stake: £1

Max Stake: £1,500

Step 1. To begin a game, either an Ante or Pairs Plus bet or both must be placed on the table. The ante bet is compulsory and starts play. Select a chip with a suitable value upon it from the bottom of the screen. The chip will rise and the edge of the chip will rotate, indicating that it has been selected for betting. Click on the Ante and/or Pairs Plus area of the table to place a bet at the value of the chip selected. If desired, each additional click will add one unit of the chip value selected to the bet.

Click on a different chip at the bottom of the screen to change the chip value for betting. It is possible to mix chip values on the same bet. The total currency value will be displayed alongside the chip/s on the table.

Step 2. Now select the Deal button to play. Use the Clear button if you wish to remove your bet from the table and choose another stake:

Step 3. Three cards will be dealt to you (your 'hand') and three to the dealer. All Dealer Cards are hidden from view.

Step 4.If you have placed an Ante bet, based on the strength of your hand, you must now decide whether to play on and bet, or to fold.

a) If your hand is weak and you do not wish to play on, click the Fold button. You would automatically lose the game, your ante bet stake and your Pairs Plus bet.

b) If you choose to play on, or 'raise' the bet, click the PLAY button.

Step 5. A stake the same amount as your ante bet will be deducted from your balance and will automatically appear on the "play" section on the table.

Step 6. The dealer's cards will now be revealed and compared to your hand.

Step 7. If the dealer's hand does not contain a queen or higher poker hand, the dealer is unable to play their hand. You, the player, then receive even money (1 to 1) on the ante bet, and the raised bet stake is returned to you (a 'push').

Step 8. If the dealer has a queen or better, the dealer will play their hand.

If you beat the dealer's hand, you will be paid evens on your ante bet and your raised bet.

Step 9. If the dealer's hand beats your hand, you lose your ante bet and your raised bet.

Step 10. If the dealer's hand matches your hand, the ante and raise bets will both be returned(a 'push').

Step 11. Having played an ante and raise bet then the ante bet you will also qualify for an Ante Bonus award. The Ante Bonus awards are independent of the Dealer's hand. The Dealer does not need to play, nor does the Dealers hand need to be lower than your hand, for you to win an Ante Bonus award. You will win a sum based on your ante bet, calculated according to the strength of your hand. The odds on this bet are listed on the left of the table.

Example:if your ante bet is £5 and your winning hand contains three of a kind, you will be paid 4:1 on your stake of £5, which totals £25.

Step 12. If you participated in the pairs plus and drew a hand that qualifies, you will win a sum based on your pairs plus bet, calculated according to the strength of your hand. The odds on this bet are listed on the right of the table.

Example: if your pairs plus bet is £25 and your winning hand is a flush, you will be paid 4:1 on your stake of £25, which totals £125.

Three Card Poker is effectively two games in one - Ante & Play AND Pairs Plus. The player may bet on either one or both. Additionally they may place different bets on both.

Ante
The Ante is a bet that can be placed at the start of the game. It may be of any value you wish providing it is within the maximum limits of the game. The ante bet will also qualify for an ante bet bonus should the player's hand not fold.

Tip: Be aware that the raised bet, if played later in the game, will be for the same value as your ante bet - so ensure that your funds are sufficient to cover this

Ante Bonus
This free bet is made by the house on the players behalf when you place an Ante bet for the same stake as the ante. It pays out based on the hand the player gets. You will only receive your stake back on the Ante - not the free Ante bonus bet.

Play (Raised)
An optional bet, with a value the same as your ante bet. This bet is placed once your hand has been dealt and you have seen your cards. Play this bet if you do not wish to fold and feel you have a chance of winning the game.

Pairs Plus
An optional bet, this bet is made prior to your hand being dealt.

The tablecloth on the screen shows the odds available you could potentially win. It represents the odds to be paid depending on the eventual value of your hand:

If the player folds the Pair Plus bet will be forfeited, in all other cases a players hand of sufficient value will be paid according to the odds shown.

Card deck

Number of decks used is 1

Deck is shuffled on each new game

Each deck consists of a standard 52-card deck (no Jokers).

Chip values
The number on each chip relates to real values in your chosen currency.

The table below details poker hands and their payouts. Possession of any of these hands does not automatically win you the game - as the dealer may have another, stronger hand than your own.
